Humwell won first place in the Duboce Park DogFest 2012 in the category of “Best Ears!” There were at least 40 other dogs competing, but the celebrity judges said he was the undeniable winner. Also, a crowd favorite.

He won a bunch of swag. Twinkie was not entered and is jealous.

This was his first competition, so naturally he was a little nervous. He didn’t even perk up his ears through the whole show!

Two big firsts — A trip to the SF beach and the chance to go off-leash! The first time we let them free, they went straight for a dead bird (not pictured).

We walked a bit further down the beach and tried it again. Humwell went straight for a sand castle and destroyed it. Luckily, there were no kids around building it, because it was the most adorable thing ever.

Twinkie joined in and they battled like Godzilla and Mothra over Tokyo.
